"service unavailable" error message

I recently changed the service account for the SSRS service, after which I restarted IIS & reporting services.

Now, I get an error message that says "Service Unavailable" whenever i try to load up http://localhost/Reports

Event viewer looks clean...what's wrong? After lots of playing around, I recreated the AppDomains for SSRS and it seemed to fix the problem..

"Report is being generated" but never does...

I have created a report and deployed it successfully to a seperate machine with SSRS on. Both my dev machine and the SSRS machine are in the same workgroup. I can then Browse to the Report Manager though IE and click & run the report (The connection is using integrated security). The report requires a single parameter to be entered which once done works successfully. The report has a single table, an inbedded image and a few static fields in the report header.

If I however add a report viewer control to an aspx test form all is not well. As soon as the page opens I am prompted to enter the parameter which is good news as it shows there has been some communication with the SSRS metabase. I then click the view report button. Using Profiler I have proved that the report Stored Proc. is running with the correct parameter value. The report viewer however seems to hang and only displays "Report is being generated" without displaying the results. It does this even with a timeout set of 1000ms.

I don't think this is a security issue as both the Report Manager works and the test form prompts me for the parameter and effectively runs the report SP. I can only assume it is a problem with returning the report to the browser.

Does anyone have any insight?

Regards

Anthony Kay

Hmmh, 1000ms ist just a second, thats not much. Try to have a look in the log information, it should present jyou more details about opening the report, querying the data, rendering the report. There you might see where the execution stops.

Seem to have the same problem.

Anthony, did you find a solution for this already?

thanks in advance

|||I found later that it was specific to my development machine as my colleagues still worked. I have found no explaination for this as yet.

"Provider Load Failure" in SSRS Configuration

I am receiving the "Provider Load Failure" message when I start the SSRS Configuration Tool on my report server.

As suggested on other threads, I have checked the reportingserviceswmi.dll and it is version 2005.90.1399.0 and the WMI service is running.

Any suggestions on what to do next?

I solved this myself by piecing together a couple of other posts.

I tried some of the remedies that basically entailed reregistering all of the wmi dll's and none of them worked but then I searched out "reportingserviceswmi.dll" and found that it wasn't in the c:\windows\system32\wbem folder. I tried reregistering it in the folder where it resided and it didn't fix the problem. Next I copied reportingserviceswmi.dll to the wbem folder and registered it there and the problem was resolved.

Example: c:\windows\system32\regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\wbem\reportingserviceswmi.dll

"Failed to create web application" error during installation of SQL 2k5b2

I was installing SSRS 2005 Beta 2 and near completion of the installation, i encountered the following error. I don't know what causes this. How can i avoid this? I've installed the rest of the whole SQL 2K5 package.

Machine : xxxxx
Product : Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services Beta 2
Product Version : 9.00.852
Install : Failed
Log File : C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\LOG\Files\SQLSetup0017_xxxxxx_RS.log
Last Action : InstallFinalize
Error String : The setup failed to create web application: /LM/W3SVC/1/Root/Reports. The error code is -2146959355.

Ok its working now. the MS DTC was enabled but not all its options were selected. I selected all of them, and reinstalled it worked.

If there's anyone just as blurr as i am, its available in WinXP thru the

Administrative tools > Component Services option.

In the left console, Expand 'Console Root > Component Services > Computers'. You should see My Computer as the next node.

The funny thing is, on my pc, when right-clicking on My Computer, i couldn't see the 'Properties' option. I had to click 'Configure My Computer' button at the toolbar (should be the last button) to enable MS DTC. AFter that , the properties option was visible on the menu.

Hope this helps anyone who might face this problem.

<ReportServerExternalUrl> with SSRS 2005

When we were on SSRS 2000, I had to add a line in my RSWebApplication.config
file in order for people outside our firewall to access our internal report
server. It looked like
<ReportServerExternalUrl>http://xxx.mydomain.com</ReportServerExternalUrl>
We just upgraded to SSRS 2005 and I wonder if I have to add this line back
into the config file to get/keep this capability.
Thanks.I tried accessing my report server after I got home and had no problems so
the answer must be that I don't need to insert this extra line manually into
the config file. That's nice since it seemed an unnecessary step in SSRS
2000.
